MLA and APA formats....what a topic!!

I look at the sites in which APA format and MLA format are presented and I am pretty shocked! They are the most common format used for writing an essay and in particular they give information about the way in which should add quotation to the text.

There are a lot of examples that are very difficult to summarize in a single blog post!!

APA format "Your essay should include four major sections: the Title Page, Abstract, Main Body, and References.

Title Page

Your title page should already include the page header (described above). On the first line of the title page flush-left, add a running head. Begin the running head with the words “Running Head” followed by a colon. Then give an abbreviated title of your paper in 50 characters or less in all caps. Note: Remember that the page header will appear on every page of your paper, whereas the running head will only appear on your title page.

In the upper half of the title page, type your full title, your byline (name[s]), and affiliation (university, etc.) centered on separate lines"

MLA style "requires that you provide, in the text, brief parenthetical references identifying the exact part of each work you quote or base your ideas on (page number or section). Examples of MLA parenthetical references are on pages 5-6 of this guide.
At the end of your paper, you must also provide an alphabetical list of "Works Cited" listing the complete citation for each work referred to parenthetically or in the text of your paper. in your parenthetical references"

I think that MLA style is the most complete one because it provides several information about the author (how to write his/her name and references), the editor, the traslation (if made by someone) and the format in general. The APA format gives information strickly relating to the format generally used in the writing of on an essay.
I tend to use the APA format because it is the easiest one and I must admit that I never considered the MLA format and this is the reason why I quoted the whole explanation. I don't feel like I can provide examples by myself about his specific topic.
I appreciated the huge amount of examples given in these sites but I think this would be the most diffucult post I am supposed to do! I always use the simplest way of making quotation which is putting the sentence between double inverted commas. I always remember to write proper names with the capital letter and after the quotation I put the name of the author and the reference to where I got that quotation.

I hope that these examples will help me in the developing of my thesis...in the next future!
